Woody Joe 1/50 Nikko Toshogu Shrine Yomeimon Gate Wooden Model Assembly Kit
Nikko Toshogu Shrine enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo shogunate, as Tosho Daigongen.
Major reconstruction began in 1634 (Kan'ei 11) under the third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, and the shrine was rebuilt into a majestic structure in preparation for the anniversary of the death in 1636 (Kan'ei 13).
The Yomeimon Gate (a National Treasure) is particularly magnificent, adorned with countless brilliantly colored carvings and considered Japan's most beautiful gate.
The architectural style is a three-bay, one-door tower gate with a gabled roof and copper-tiled roof, complete with karahafu (gabled roof) on all four sides.
It is also known as "Higurashi Gomon" (Higurashi Gomon) because it is a sight you could gaze upon all day without getting bored.
In 1999 (Heisei 11), the shrine buildings were registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
